[3] Fifi (フィーフィー,Fīfī) was a young white girl sheep character from the Japanese company Sanrio and was part of the Hello Kitty universe. She has a tuft of yellow wool on the top of her head and she's barefoot. Like Hello Kitty, Fifi was portrayed as mouthless, but other media depicts her with a visible mouth. She wears a powder blue dress and holly in her hair. Fifi likes playing house, and also enjoys playing on jungle gyms and slides. Her favorite food is cookies, but she doesn't like mushrooms or bell peppers, as revealed in Growing Up With Hello Kitty. She also has a little brother (who is unknown). Fifi makes her debut in the Hello Kitty and Friends animated series, specifically "The Circus Comes to Town", in 1992.

Trivia
- Fifi's role in the Hello Kitty series has largely diminished since the early 2010s; as is the case for most of Hello Kitty's original cast of friends. While she still occasionally appears in some web-based promotions, most modern merchandising and larger forms of media (e.g. TV adaptions and video games) do not use the character.
- Although Fifi is a sheep like My Sweet Piano, her appearance is known to be similar to that of Hello Kitty, My Melody, and Cathy. She is also occasionally mistaken as a rabbit or poodle by fans.
- In reality, sheeps have wool on their torso, but Fifi does not as she has it only for her hair.
- In Hello Kitty and Friends and her other animation series she is featured, Fifi speaks with an American accent in the English dub, while her nationality is supposed to be British, much like other mainline characters. Notably, in the former series, Fifi has a rather smooth voice unlike in Hello Kitty's Paradise or Growing Up WIth Hello Kitty.
Mimmy being kissed by Fifi in Hello Kitty and Friends
- In the episode "The Dream Thief" of Hello Kitty and Friends, Fifi can be seen giving Mimmy a direct kiss, as a heartwarming way of thanks, after the latter agrees to listen to the former's story about her dream being eaten by Puffin while everyone else disagrees believing she is lying. In the original Japanese version, she gives the affection mid-speech, without making a "smooch".
- It must be noted that Fifi is in no way attracted to Mimmy herself or vice versa.
- As she can only generally be found in older media, some fans in the Sanrio community considered Fifi an underrated character, as she is currently beloved due to her cute looks and wanted to appear more often.
- In Hello Kitty's Paradise and Growing Up with Hello Kitty, Fifi's mother looks virtually identical to herself, while in Hello Kitty and Friends, she has a different appearance and wears glasses, as seen in "Mom Loves Me After All".
- Fifi's dream is to become a police officer, as revealed in "The Dream Thief" episode of Hello Kitty and Friends.
- The color of Fifi's dress is normally blue or cyan, but it can be green or pink.
- A character resembling Fifi can be seen in My Melody & Kuromi.
- Fifi may be a gamer; In the "Birthday Party Time" episode of Hello Kitty's Paradise, she owns a generic video game system as one of her birthday gifts.
The original VHS and DVD release comparison of Cathy being replaced by Fifi for Hello Kitty and Friends
- In the DVD releases of Hello Kitty and Friends, the intro scene shows Fifi replacing Cathy due to legal issues since 2010.
- Fifi is shorter than Hello Kitty and some of her other friends, roughly the same size as My Melody or Kuromi.
- In "Let's Play Together" in Growing up with Hello Kitty, however, there is an animation error where Fifi is shown slightly taller than Hello Kitty and Mimmy.
- Despite never participating in the Sanrio Character Ranking since her debut in 1992, she ranked 14th place in the 2025 Sub Character Contest.
Names
Fifi's name is derived from "Fifi," which is a diminutive of French "Joséphine," from Latin "Josephus," the source and translation of "Joseph."
