- "They're all... my friends..."
- —Chowder's final line at the end of Cinnamoroll: The Movie, said as he tears up.
Chowder (チャウダー, Chaudā) is a magician Sanrio character created for Cinnamoroll: The Movie. He acts as a temporary antagonist who accidentally starts the main conflict of the movie—this conflict being the characters getting trapped in a world made of sweets, with Ms. Anna being kidnapped by a monster Chowder summoned—but quickly joins the protagonists, including Cinnamoroll, in working to resolve it. The 2007 animated film serves as his only appearance, as he is not seen in any other Sanrio media, and has no official art or merchandise. Due to this, most information about him must be inferred from the movie via analysis. He lives in a hollowed-out tree in the forest near the café and practices magic.
Physical Appearance
Chowder is a creature of unknown species with blue skin or fur, and some sort of purple crest or mohawk on the top of his head. There are darker blue markings around his eyes, which are lilac-colored with slightly aqua-tinted whites. He has two fangs that poke out of his mouth, although it is possible that all of his teeth are sharp to some degree based off of two frames of animation in which his teeth are showing. He has a long tail tipped with a heart, colored the same as his crest. He wears a dark turquoise cape that appears to be makeshift, as it is tied around his neck rather than having some form of clasp. He carries a book of spells with strange runes on the pages. Another one of these runes decorates the cover of the book and appears several times throughout the movie.
The monster Chowder accidentally created inside Cafe Cinnamon is also named as Chowder, but more specifically Chowder's true feelings. When in its impersonating form, Chowder's true feelings has purple skin instead of the original Chowder's blue skin.
Personality
Chowder is impulsive, and often does not think before he acts (This is evidenced by him jumping to conclusions about Cinnamoroll being some sort of monster, along with throwing himself at a metal door—which opens by sliding vertically—in an attempt to open it). He gets very defensive when insulted or otherwise antagonized, and insists he is "the greatest magician in the world" after Mocha refers to him as a terrible magician. However, he does not always react this way, as he cries after he and the pups are sent to a strange dark forest, admitting that it's all his fault. He also is visibly sullen and does not retaliate when Mocha yells at him in the oven and claims, once again, that the situation they're all in is his fault, instead simply saying "I... I know..." Despite most of the pups—aside from Cinnamoroll, who didn't know Chowder before the events of the movie and does not seem to harbor contempt for him—disliking him, he attempts to keep them and Ms. Anna safe, both by trying to dispose of Cinnamoroll—who he, at that point, believes is evil—to protect them and by saving Milk from a barrage of giant silverware. Even though by the end of the movie he told the truth that he wanted Cinnamoroll out of sight from Ms. Anna, some pups including Mocha are still a bit angry at Chowder for attempting to dispose Cinnamoroll infront of his family, although Chowder and the pups are accepted as friends after. He appears to be a bit clumsy and trips several times throughout the movie. He seems unused to positive attention, as he blushes and does not respond when Cinnamoroll thanks him for saving Milk, along with starting to cry when the other characters proclaim that he is their friend at the end of the movie. He is implied to have an unrequited crush on Ms. Anna, although he does not attempt to court her like the monster impersonating him does.

Trivia
- Chowder smiles a total of seven times throughout Cinnamoroll: The Movie, two of which are very wobbly smiles, and two of which are in the images shown during the movie's credits.
- Chowder cries three separate times during the movie.
- Chowder's antagonistic role in the first half of the movie may be the original concept of the duo Lloromannic (Berry & Cherry), the canonical rivals of Cinnamoroll and that both the duo and Chowder share the same goals of kicking him out of Cafe Cinnamon.
- Chowder's monster he created does an eyelid pull one time in the movie similarly to Badtz-Maru and Kuromi.
